UPDATE: THIS MOVIE HAS BEEN PUSHED BACK TO SUMMER 2009. DISREGUARD THE "CHRISTMAS 2008" REFRENCE. THANK YOU.
i didnt use to like star trek but i heard the 2009 movie was being directed by j.j. abrahms, who created great shows like lost and fringe and i thoughti would give star trek a try. i saw a old rerun of the original series and have been hooked ever since.
So in conclusion, this movie, by retelling (or rebooting) the events of the the original NCC-1701, is well placed chronologically in regards to the franchise. Moreover, you have a fresh crew learning their way into the 'human adventure', composed of a new generation of actors, coupled with well-played CGI (for space, explosions, and virtual environments, what else could you have?), with action that's be delivered to us by J.J. Abrams - of whom, I will say, no movie or series ever bombed.
Someone said here the movie will flop, but I think differently. First off, it's Star Trek, a series which was held in our minds and acclaimed for decades. In case there's any doubts, you have the Trekkie community. Second, you have the continuing of the series with TNG. Then, the spin-offs, such as DS9 and Voyager. All acclaimed down till the end. Third, the Enterprise series; it was the shortest, but it tells events leading down to the formation of the Federation. Again, acclaimed.
I AM PROUD TO BE A TREKKIE !!!
